Preparing A Property for a Photographic Session

For exterior photography
  •  Put all vehicles in the garage or off property.
  • Close your garage doors.Make sure there are no garbage cans on the side of the house or in front of the house.
  • Remove any hoses that could be laying around.
  • Pick up any children’s toys, put away toys or game equipment.
  • Have your lawn mowed and make sure shrubs are cleaned and edged. It’s a good idea to remove any dead plants, shrubs or planters.
  • If you have a pool or spa, make sure it’s clean and remove any hoses, vacuums or covers.
  • Make sure patio furniture is clean and cushions are flawless.
  • If it’s summer, you can open up the patio umbrellas, if you have them. If it’s winter or late autumn, we suggest closing them.
  • Make sure patios are clear of dirt. We recommend washing them.
  • In autumn, when leaves are falling, we suggest having a landscaper show up a few hours before the photography session so that the property is clear of leaves.

For interior photography
  • Prepare the property as if it was for a showing or open house.
  • Put away as many personal items as possible.
  • Make sure the property and especially the floors, rugs, carpets are spotless.
  • Temporarily confine or remove pets and remove their beds, bowls and toys.
  • Turn on all lights and replace all burnt out light bulbs inside and out.
  • Level-off all lampshades and blinds/window shades.
  • Close all doors on areas not to be photographed.
